PureBridge Guide

Choose the right way to use AI with PureBridge. Chatbox is for direct daily use. API Key is for CLI tools, IDE agents, scripts, and automation workflows.

Token freedom makes thinking freedom possible.

In the AI era, real freedom is not just another chat window. It is stable, controllable, and continuous access to frontier models. When tokens, models, and toolchains are not freely usable, thinking is interrupted by entry points, quotas, and limits. PureBridge exists to restore the freedom to connect, call, and build.

Start with direct use, then move into deeper calls.

PureBridge does not frame light and heavy users as opposites. Chatbox is the low-friction entry into AI. API Key is the next step for connecting AI to real toolchains.

Chatbox mode

For users who do not want API setup and just want chat, writing, translation, study, summaries, and image generation.

  • No API Key configuration required after sign-in.
  • Good for daily Q&A, writing, reports, research notes, and image generation.
  • Writing assistant, image generation, and skill collections will continue to expand.

API Key mode

For users who want to connect models to CLI tools, IDEs, scripts, agents, bots, and automation workflows.

  • Use the OpenAI-compatible API with common developer tools.
  • Split API Keys by tool, project, or workflow.
  • Best for continuous building, long-context work, and high-frequency calls.

API developer docs

Developer-facing reference for endpoints, SDKs, curl, errors, model lists, and CLI/agent configuration.

  • Kept as technical documentation, not the full user onboarding guide.
  • Use this guide to choose a path, then copy configuration from API docs.
  • Set budgets, rate limits, and dedicated API Keys before production use.

Use AI directly without technical setup.

Chatbox is for users who want to start using AI immediately. It is not a lower-value mode; it is a practical workspace for common AI tasks.

  1. Create or sign in to your PureBridge account.
  2. Choose a Chatbox plan and complete purchase or redemption.
  3. Open Chatbox, choose a model, and start the conversation.
  4. Turn writing, translation, summaries, learning, office work, and image generation into repeatable conversations or skills.

Writing assistant, image generation, and skill collections.

Chatbox will keep moving from general chat toward a clearer AI work entry, so non-technical users can complete frequent tasks reliably.

  • Writing assistant: copy, email, reports, polishing, outlines, and rewrites.
  • Image generation: posters, illustrations, avatars, product images, and social assets.
  • Skill collections: reusable task flows for common work.
  • Later, strong skills can connect naturally with API Key workflows.

Connect AI to your toolchain.

API Key is for developers, power users, and automation users. It turns PureBridge into an OpenAI-compatible provider for CLI tools, IDEs, agents, scripts, and workflows.

  1. Purchase or redeem a API Key plan.
  2. Open the API Key workspace and create an API Key.
  3. Copy the Base URL, API Key, and model ID.
  4. Configure PureBridge as an OpenAI-compatible provider in SDKs, CLI tools, IDE agents, or automation tools.
  5. Use the usage page to monitor requests, tokens, cost, and unusual spend.

CLI, IDE, agents, and automation.

Deep AI use is not one chat session. It is bringing models into the tools you already use every day.

  • Codex, opencode, Aider: code edits, tests, explanations, and repository tasks.
  • Continue, Cline, Roo Code: IDE chat, edits, and local agents.
  • Dify, n8n, LiteLLM, custom scripts: automation, bots, document processing, and scheduled jobs.
  • Chatbox API mode or other OpenAI-compatible clients: custom model entry points.

When should you move from Chatbox to API Key?

If AI has moved from occasional Q&A into your daily workflow, consider API Key. It does not replace Chatbox; it expands where AI can work.

You use AI across multiple tools

For example terminal, IDE, automation scripts, knowledge bases, bots, or low-code platforms all need one model entry.

You need stable calls and budget control

Separate API Keys by project, then set budgets, limits, and notifications for troubleshooting and cost accounting.

You work with long context and continuous tasks

Agents, code repositories, batch jobs, and automation workflows can consume tokens quickly and need clear usage management.

You do not want to be constrained by a single entry point

When models are reachable, calls are controllable, and tools are connectable, AI moves from chat window to real productivity.

Understand tokens to control AI usage.

PureBridge does not package AI as an unexplainable unlimited service. Tokens are the basic unit for model input and output. Long context, multi-turn chat, images, and agent loops all increase usage.

  • Chatbox users should focus on whether plan benefits cover common tasks.
  • API Key users should watch requests, tokens, models, and cost.
  • Use a separate API Key, budget, and usage view for heavy tools.
  • Before production or long tasks, test small, then expand context and automation permissions.

Treat API Keys as production credentials.

An API Key can call models and spend balance. Do not put it in public repositories, frontend code, screenshots, or logs.

  • Use different API Keys for different tools and projects.
  • Disable and recreate a key immediately if it leaks.
  • For 401, 403, 429, or 5xx, check key status, plan, model ID, balance, and rate limits first.
  • When contacting support, include time, model ID, error response, and request purpose.

Common questions

What is the difference between Chatbox and API Key?

Chatbox is the direct AI interface for chat, writing, learning, and image generation. API Key is programmatic access for CLI tools, IDEs, agents, scripts, and automation workflows.

Do I need technical skills to use PureBridge?

No. Chatbox mode requires no technical setup. You only need API Key when you want to connect tools, scripts, or developer workflows.

Why does PureBridge emphasize token freedom?

Because AI is not just a chat window. Deep AI use needs stable model access, controllable call capacity, and APIs that can connect to toolchains. When models are reachable and calls are controllable, thinking and building are not interrupted by entry points.

When should I choose an API plan?

Choose an API plan when you need to call models from Codex, opencode, Aider, Continue, Cline, Roo Code, Dify, n8n, scripts, or your own tools.
